Counter Corruption posters

For: Counter Corruption Unit (CCU)

Brief: Creation of series of staff facing anti-corruption posters, to be published in time for the launch of the new CCU – a specialist taskforce to tackle staff corruption in prison and probation areas. The posters were to replace a series of outdated communications.

Responsibilities: Working closely with colleagues and counter corruption staff to making sure that the visuals and tone of voice were appropriate to the audience and would encourage staff co-operation. Several concepts were required to establish the most effective style. Sourcing imagery and artworking the final designs for print.

Outcomes: A series of four A3 posters tackling four different aspects of corruption, prevalent in the system:

  • Encouraging staff to come forward if they witness threatening behaviour towards staff or prisoners.
  • The ripple effect of corrupt actions.
  • Reminding staff to be careful when and where they share personal details.
  • Encouraging staff to own up if they have become involved in corrupt behaviour.

A stylised ‘Polaroid photo’ style on a wood effect background was used to illustrate the steps involved or to show different examples of corruption in each poster. Final posters were also translated into Welsh language and designs adjusted to fit the copy length accordingly.
